MAD BOOKS: We've selected our third book club's topic. It's "At the Mountains of Madness", by H.P. Lovecraft. It's really a novella, about 100 pages in length. You can find it in several different books, some of which are linked to from the voting thread. Pick up a copy, and join us to talk about it starting on February 1:

WRITER'S STRIKE: The WGA is continuing to try and push deals with individual studios, with UA and Dick Clark Productions both being listed as good possibilities. If these come about, they'll probably start a deluge that will end the strike over the next couple of months. Meanwhile, more and more shows are coming up dry. CSI is one of the latest shows running its final episode this week. We'll see an increased number of reality shows as winter turns to spring, but on the bright side several genre shows were held back during fall, and we'll thus get fresh genre episodes starting this week.
SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES: The first new show is Fox's _The Sarah Connor Chronicles_. It previewed on the Internet over the weekend, and is scheduled to broadcast next Sunday and Monday, the 13th and 14th. We've already got some early discussion based on the preview and on news stories.

(After Sarah Connor the next big show is _Lost_, which starts a truncated season on January 31st. I'll be eager to start reviewing the mysteries of that show soon.)
